No resolutions here-Jan 09

So-the new year's blog. First of all, happy new year!

I hope everyone has a happy and safe new year's eve and the best 2009!

I must admit to being a bit intimidated by all the amazing and well-written new year's blogs that many of my friends have posted (and if I haven't commented on yours yet I'll be catching up tomorrow and over the weekend.)

Some of my friends wrote blogs about their year on Myspace mentioning many of their friends and Myspace exploits; this blog will not be so comprehensive, but I will try to recap the year and thank many people-if I don't mention you please don't be insulted.

2008 was an incredibly eventful year for me both IRL and on Myspace, with many travels both over land and air, and online and in my head.
The blogs started and ended the year in NYC, which makes perfect sense since I love to take pictures there. In between there were trips to and blogs about: Philly-the river and Rittenhouse Square, NY, NY, NY, the Susquehanna River, upstate Pa, Chicago (no photoblog yet!), on the water in AC, girl's weekend in AC, Chincoteague, VA, the WORLD SERIES, etc etc etc.

It was the year I perfected my version of the photoblog and had so much fun doing them, the year of Bad Lisa vs what's his name, and the anti-drama puppy, the year of Rick the ice cream cone and then banana (aka Alan), the year of the star tattoo I still didn't get (thanks Julie for your best ink blog-Jersey Girl's stars were inspiring). Also-the year my library finally got finished and cataloged, the year I started getting antsy about my job, my first political rant and the 2008 presidential election (let's not go there please), and my thoughts on the signs you are a grown-up. And last but certainly not least, the year that my Phillies muscled and squirmed their way to the World Series and took it from Tampa Bay as I cheered from Minneapolis (after an amazing weekend coming home for a game that lasted all night) and became WORLD FUCKING CHAMPIONS!!!!

An eventful year, and I haven't even mentioned any friends yet. I started the year with my IRL friends Sara, Pat, Mark (my husband) and Alana, and their friends, including Cap'n Hook, Blue, and Hockey Dino. Added Christine, Glinda, Josh, Buy More Shoes, Karen (k), Judy (J), and Autumnus from groups that I joined and participated in. That was before I discovered all the bloggers of course.

I think it started with Kate, and then her mom Carla. I know Kate is not blogging publicly anymore but I must take this opportunity to thank her for all her blogs while working the night shift-her hilarious takes on the hotel night life guaranteed me a funny wake-up call in my hotel room in Chicago. And of course once I started reading her mom Carla, I knew the talent ran in the family. I also met a lot of people in Kate and Carla's circle, including Jenilu, L Dawg, Cletus and more. And my friend Kaz educated and entertained me on political matters with his insightful blogs and links to articles.

Now here's where the chronology gets a little fuzzy-many of the bloggers I now read were introduced to me by just two people- Richard and Yvonne, both of whom have become real friends, thank you both oxoxo.
Some of these bloggers and friends include-Just Toyia, Grant (who just drunk dialed me from the UK-thanks Grant I love your accent too!), Stone Bryson, Doctor Zolton, Mrs Clayton (who blogged tonight yay!), Agent Neptune, Clobber Girl, Captain Awesome. Belladonna, Mayet, Chicken Boy, Angry Squirrel, Anthro Geek, Burritos Project (hi Trev!), Valentine, Wisdom Warrior, Not Your Mom, Carl, Bad Lisa, Mystery, Maddie, Smart Ass Blog Kamikaze, ??????, Signe, Dances with Vodka, Melissa (the Unwilling), Eric Brooks, Arris, Pineapple, and Helm Matthews . And of course since I got my own computer and am free to peruse such things, I have discovered what TXT means and bloggers No Trespasssing, AKA wicked game, and the new and improved Julie are providing a different kind of entertainment ;). I've even written my own TXT but it's not for public consumption, not yet at least.

UPDATE: You are all real friends-make no mistake!!!!

And I must give a special thanks to Rick aka Alan, the ice cream cone/banana for being a friend, and especially for helping me give my alter ego Gia wings and words. Creating Gia allowed me to express so many thoughts and feelings that had been hidden for so long, and helped me start to heal from long-ago hurts. Thanks Alan, and all of Gia's friends, for listening. (If you're curious, send Gia a friend request).

And of course thanks everyone for being my friends-YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
Thanks for making my year so much better; funnier, more informed, and richer in every possible way. Thank you for sharing your lives and your innermost thoughts and fears; you all have given me more than you could ever know. And thanks for listening to me and commenting on my thoughts and musings (sorry Mrs C); your insights are invaluable!

I begin the new year with a resume on the table; an opportunity came my way and I grabbed it with both hands; of course if you read me at all you know I have this desperate NEED to avoid boredom. So I could be starting a new job in the relatively near future-it's up to destiny now. I'm beginning to think that reinventing myself is my real calling in life. One thing will not change, however, and that is my presence here on Myspace and my love and respect for all of you, your writing, and especially, your friendship.
THANK YOU!

Eddie and Patsy say
Cheers-thanks a lot!!!
