Update with centerpiece pix-check below
Yes I said I would write a blog with pictures of my 30th HS reunion last Saturday night. And I have not written a word or posted any pictures other than this one of me and my friend Beth
the only other person besides Pat
that I am in regular contact with. It's the only shot that came out even half way presentable, and that's because it was professionally done. The light at the country club was horrible for pictures-too dark for any camera settings that I could come up with, but too light for the flash. I tried a couple shots but quickly gave up on the whole thing.
So what can I tell you about the evening?
The best and funniest thing about it is that people stole the centerpieces. Yes, I know that the flowers usually walk away from an event like this, however, it wasn't the flowers that were so popular, but the vases! You see, the tables were decorated in two themes; rock and roll or disco.
The rock and roll tables had very distinctive vases-yes they were BONGS!!!
Update:
I found pix of the actual centerpieces-thanks Joni on Facebook:
and
Looking sort of like this:
Someone on the committee had the brilliant idea of using bongs to hold the flowers, and since I work in center city fairly close to the only shop that sells such things (we used to call them head shops), I went to pick them up. That was very interesting, as you can imagine. Nuff said.
You couldn't tell that the vases were bongs until you got up close, because they were small and plain, and they were surrounded by other parts of the centerpieces, but obviously people noticed, because by the end of the night they were all GONE!!! We all got a good chuckle out of that one. Kiddies, lock up your moms and dads LOFL. (and maybe grandma and grandpa too!!!)
So about the rest of the evening. Kudos to my BFF Pat for getting everything done on time, especially since her right hand woman got sick with the stomach flu and wasn't there to help corral the troops in the hours before the start. Everything looked beautiful and seemed to go off without a hitch-not many people danced but everyone was mingling and catching up with old friends.
As for me, I spent most of the night with Beth, which was actually great because we don't see each other much these days. I did get a chance to talk to some folks from elementary school, and greeted some other people, but nobody seemed to be paying much atttention to me. This is normal of course, everyone is always focused on themselves at these things, but my ridiculous worries about what to wear etc were just that-ridiculous. Although I think if I had decided not to wear a bra I would have attracted some more attention BAHAHAHA-but I chickened out and strapped one on. Oh well-some wisdom may have seeped into my head after all LOL.
So that's about it for the reunion blog-ho f**ing hum!
Till next time....
