Hidden in Plain Sight; a NY photoblog

Time for another photoblog-and if you're tired of NYC, don't go any further. This one will be a bit different, though. This trip was really about going to the theater; Mom and I went to see Laura Linney in Les Liasons Dangerous(must look up actual spelling) and it was marvelous. While we were in NY we went back to some interesting places that are hidden in plain sight. Hope you enjoy.

We started out in Philly at 30th St Station-business class on Amtrak is very comfortable.

Memorial to railroad workers killed in the war

We stayed at the Millenium Broadway on 44th St-got a Travelzoo deal AND they put us in a corner room on the 51st floor!

Who knew there was such interesting architecture on 44th St!

So-we hit a couple of unusual places for drinks and nosh that night-first stop-the St. Regis Hotel

to see the Maxfield Parrish mural-Wow!

Excellent nosh and drinks at a relatively reasonable price, BTW.

On to Grand Central

where we stole up the stairs to the Campbell Apartment-so twenties!

Great drinks and nosh there too. They have a bar and tables set up outside for the summer, but we didn't stop there-it's just not the same.

The next day was for the Metropolitan. We took the bus uptown after stopping to take a shot here-

fall down go boom

No pictures inside the Met this trip; you've seen plenty of those in previous blogs, suffice to say that we went, we saw an amazing exhibit of Turners (and another one the next day of Pietre Dure-the art of semi-precious stone work OMG). So it was back on the M4 all the way uptown to the Cloisters.

So beautiful and Zen-like-sorely needed after that bus trip up the west side. We took the subway back-much faster!

with beautiful views of the river

:)
