Champagne and makeup 12/30/07

Sunday night-just got back from the Blue Mercury store a little while ago and felt compelled to write about the experience, even though I have no pictures.

Blue Mercury is a beauty retail store and spa that started out in DC; I think the Georgetown store that I spent some time at this spring is the first one. They have a store on Walnut St in Philly, and when the Quarter at the Tropicana opened a brand spanking new Blue Mercury store and spa on two levels debuted in Atlantic City.

About a month ago I received snail and email announcing a sale on December 30; the more you spend the more you save kind of thing, so I refrained from buying some hair and makeup items until today, when I could save some money.

I went over there about 4 PM, and was immediately offered a glass of champagne, which of course I accepted, since I would be there awhile and didn't have far to get home. I spent some money there, to be sure, but I also took advantage of the beauty experts on hand to chat and sell products to enjoy a mini-facial, some fragrance testing, Bliss testing and samples, and makeup application.

It was so much fun-I am at the point in my life where I can partake of some amenities without feeling obligated to buy-I only purchased what I needed but sampled many more items. Of course I am a regular customer at the store, and they know I will be back another day.

So all in all a very satisfying experience and I learned some new tricks with eye makeup, which are always welcome. The champagne didn't hurt either!

The evening also bought to mind an early fall walk around Walnut and Chestnut Sts with my friend Sara that included a stop at the grand opening of the Sephora store-champagne and makeup, although today's experience was a bit more laid-back. I'm so glad that I picked Sara up at the airport that day-I know I had a blast and think I can speak for her too, although I think her feet were a little sore. Sorry about that, Sara!

Thanks for the picture.
