Some crankiness-deal with it (inspired by Crabby) 3/7/08

div>So here I am having pretzels and cheese and Captain Morgan Private Stock at my dining room table with my honey, and all I want to do is write a blog about Classmates.com-what am I, crazy?
Proceed with caution if you go any further-the following may closely resemble whining, although I hope to make it palatable.
Shortly after I started this page I scanned a number of old pictures and posted them here. Many of these were old photos of my dad and my past that I thought would enlighten and inform anyone who was interested. As my MySpace page got increasingly complicated, the page I have at Classmates.com started looking a little naked, so I decided to put some photos out there to jazz it up. (I must say here that only a small percentage of the people in my HS grad class have pictures out there, and it keeps it from being very interesting. Many people have nothing at all except their name.) The pictures I posted there follow, the first and second are my "then" and "now " photos, and then others that are on the body of the page.

My then photo

My now picture-not exactly correct since I cut my hair (I can’t get this to work-I guess Tom doesn’t want me to pimp one of my first blogs), but close enough and shows me on the field at CBP!!!

The other pictures

Well, since I put these pictures out there 57 people have visited my profile and left their names, most of them from HS but some from where I work. The pictures have attracted so much attention that some interesting people that I had to look up in my yearbooks visited me, including a grade school supercrush LOL, I hope he doesn’t read this!

So I had some fun checking these people out in the yearbook, but the problem started when I went to my visitors’ profiles to see what they had to say for themselves in Classmates. To my disapointment I found that most of them had no information at all, and none of them had even one picture to engage my curiosity! Maybe it’s because I now have an online presence and am getting used to being out in the cyber world, but I am very annoyed and dismayed at these anonymous people-I’m not looking for a life story, but a couple pictures and a quick Q and A would be really polite, doncha think?
As for the privacy angle, I need to explain that anyone can lurk around til the cows come home and and never be detected if you just choose not to leave your name-it’s that easy and you are free to lurk away. But these people left their names on my inbox and invited me to look at their pages and/or email them; although if I must look you up in the yearbook, you’re probably not getting an email.
So-I think that will do for the whining-just please do me a favor- if you’ve made it this far, you’ll induge me. If you have a Classmates or Reunion.com subscription, either keep to yourself or throw a couple pix and a mini-bio out there. Thanks -I’d love to hear what you think about Classmates-and hope you enjoyed the pictures.
