Gia's grave Sept 09

So, it's Sunday afternoon and I'm sitting at home doing a blog-hah! Yes, I'm lazy, but in my defense I must tell you that
a) I'm sick with a nasty head cold
b) yesterday was extremely draining emotionally-the mother of my dear friend (who is next to me in these pictures) died and we went to her funeral-so many memories...

c) I'm gathering my strength so I am awake for the Phils tonight-Pat and I have seats right behind the dugout and I'm really looking forward to it.

So now that I am done explaining myself-seriously wth is that all about? Maybe I'll write about it sometime...

I want to share some pictures with you. I haven't felt the cam very much lately, but for some reason (maybe Alice's death and the fact that I was right around the corner from the cemetery) I felt compelled to go visit the grave of model and (my) muse Gia Carangi. She was a Philly girl born in the year of my birth, 1960, and is buried in Sunset Memorial Park, right up the road from all of my stomping grounds.

You may know that I have a soft spot for Gia; she was a wounded soul who got in over her head and paid with her life. She died at the tender age of 26. You know I would normally link you to wiki or some informational site, but just Google her and you will read her story.

She is forever young-just cause I feel like it, a shot of her-age unknown

and a shot of me on my honeymoon at 25-I am not forever young of course-being an old coot now!

So on to Gia's grave-

I had some information about the approximate location of the grave, but it was very difficult to find because there are no headstones in this cemetery! Unless one pays for a crypt or some other larger memorial, all of the stones are set in to the ground and you must be right on top of them to see the name.

I finally found it-the jet is in the background

Getting this next shot was a bit more difficult than I expected, but I guess this turned out ok (lying down in the wet grass for a shot-I am insane!)

Thanks for indulging me-I hope you enjoyed my little trip to the graveyard. Now what are those Phillies up to?
